Entomological (ESSA) and Zoological (ZSSA) Societies of Southern Africa

2017 Combined Congress of the Entomological and Zoological Societies of Southern Africa

The Entomological (ESSA) and Zoological (ZSSA) Societies of Southern Africa hold biennial congresses, which provide an opportunity for scientists, managers, researchers and students in their respective fields to interact with their peers and meet and share ideas with partners in industry. In 2015, the two societies held a very successful joint conference, with one overlapping day on which joint sessions took place.

A Fully combined Congress

In 2017, a fully combined congress of the ESSA and ZSSA will be held at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria. The dates for this congress are 3-7 July 2017.

During this meeting, current topics such as climate change, integrated pest management, biological control, biodiversity loss and human-wildlife conflict will be discussed.

Entomologists and zoologists from South African and international research institutions as well as members of the public sector attend these events, along with many postgraduate students, making it an ideal opportunity for showcasing IMP Microscopes as a company.

At the 2017 combined congress, in excess of 300 scientific presentations will be made by approximately 500 South African and international biologists, with individual sessions bringing experts together to discuss the latest developments in research and technology.

The Combined Congress of the ESSA and ZSSA in 2017 is hosted by the Department of Zoology and Entomology at the University of Pretoria.
